Report of CHILDREN PROMOTING PEACE SUMMIT At the United Nations
29th Human Rights Council (2015)
.   On the Monday 15 June 2015, young representatives, aged between 7 and 14, met at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland in order to discuss the vital role that children can and should play in

Whilst at the United Nations the delegates of the Promoting Peace Summit also attended the Opening Session of the 29th Human Rights Council.

This report contains extracts of the young delegates’ discussions and presentations, unfettered by rules or interventions, in an environment in which they were encouraged to speak freely and openly.

Ariel Foundation Mental Health Report 2015 ChangemakersOn March 27th 2015, during the 28th Human Rights Council, children delegates, between 10 and 16 years old, met at the Palais des Nations in Geneva in order to discuss the vital role that children can and should play in human rights.

This report contains extracts of the young delegates’ presentations and discussions, in an environment in which they were chairs for both their presentations and their groups. They encouraged one another to speak freely and openly to one another about the world they see and the world they imagine. The words and thoughts by delegates in their original languages of German, French and English and translated.



The AFI Changemakers at the UN Report on Corruption in Healthcare looks into how corruption affects the millions of individuals do not have access to efficient
Ariel Foundation Mental Health Report 2015 Changemakersmedicines and their health is severely affected as a result.  The report group worked on the causes and consequences of corruption within the healthcare sector. Corruption in this report includes issues within both the public and private spheres. Various issues are presented within the politics and economics of Healthcare in order to identify the corrupted relationships between the various actors involved in Healthcare. The four areas covered are : The Politics and Economics of Healthcare, Prevention of Domestic production of Medicines, Trade Treaties and Access to Health, Public Awareness of Global Health Issues Click to download the report


Ariel Foundation Mental Health Report 2015 ChangemakersThe AFI Changemakers at the UN Report on Mental Health (2015) looks in detail at the legal framework in place to support people with mental health disabilities, the significant barriers to adequate mental health care from a medical perspective and the educational issues around awareness and acceptance of those who suffer. These three areas of concern encapsulate many of the most serious barriers to those with mental health disabilities being able to access treatment and live a life free from discrimination. The AFI Changemakers at the UN Report on the Sustainability of Healthcare and Access to Medicines (2015) introduces and explains the concept of sustainable healthcare provisions and access to medicines, and why this is necessary for long-term development, the necessary elements to ensure such sustainability, which we believe are often overlooked, the necessity for a community-centred approach towards delivering health services, and the infrastructural, educational and social requirements which are necessary for the sustainable provision of, and access to, healthcare and medicines(Click to download the report)

‘RIGHT TO HEALTH AND MEDICINES’

World Health Summit UNThe AFI Changemakers summits act as open forums for free dialogue between young people from all over the world. At the beginning of the Summit participants worked together to identify key issues within the Right to Health and Access to Medicines that they felt should be prioritised or have been omitted from the international discourse. A number of issues were raised, including; the right to choose (encompassing the right to die), maternal health, reproductive rights, the right to health as a fundamental human right and the healthcare rights of migrants.

After discussion of the proposed topics and deliberation, the key issues chosen were:  1. Mental health, 2. Corruption in healthcare industries, 3. Sustainability of healthcare policies and access to medicines
