Cynthia Ayodele Kady Macaully Originally from West Africa, Sierra Leone. Education has always been a vital force in her life. Her education was interrupted by a two-year hiatus from school due to the brutal war in Sierra Leone. In April of 2000 she was force to seek refuge in the United States which has gave her the chance to revive her education, and to become persistent in overcoming all hurdles. She is currently a senior at Salem College majoring in Pscyhology and Sociology. Due to her past experiences she has written several research papers and presentations on the injustices on children involved in armed conflict. She is currently the Vice President of Forgotten Souls of Sierra Leone, which is a small organize group to assist amputees in Sierra Leone. Over the past three years, she also worked with several local agencies in my community including Rape Crisis Center, Crisis Control Ministry, Chapel Hill Recreational Center and Aids Care Center. While working at Aids Care Center, she became stung with seriouness of HIV/AIDS in Africa. She used her position as the secretary of International Club at Salem college to raise about $1000. She plans to study Global Health in graduate school with a concentration in HIV/AIDS. She believes her purpose in life is to plan, lead, and be a reliable asset to anything involved in ir. |
