Ms. Rebecca Huang

Rebecca Huang was born in 2009 in Hong Kong, and she currently resides in Shanghai. She particularly enjoys STEM subjects such as mathematics and sciences and has a strong passion in helping people with education, especially younger students. She believes all children deserve a fair opportunity to receive education, and engage in extracurricular activities such as sports, baking and music.  She thinks education is important because she is certain that it can make a change in the world, and as such, she created the 6As Framework of Quality Education for all.

When she was about five years old, she moved to Shanghai and transferred into an international school. At first, her English was rudimentary, and she realized that other students lacked opportunities and access to education, such is my case in English. Moreover, before she went to an international school, she had no awareness on important matters such as climate change and gender equality. She thinks there is a significant percentage of children without the awareness of and consciousness in many world problems. She believes that quality education, from both a teacher and a student perspective, holds the key in resolving global issues, and it starts with youth.

To scale my impact, she joined the Young Pioneers Forum at UN ESCAP Asia Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development 2022 as a youth advocate and speaker and shared with the youth around Asia on the importance of starting early. At the Forum, she emphasized her commitment in helping grade 6 – 8 students from less urban areas in China by giving them more resources and opportunities. She was inspired by my fellow speakers to design a 6As Framework of Quality Education for All. The framework starts with Attitude, encouraging youth to develop a willingness to seek out information as a pathway of education. Next, it moves on to Accessibility, reiterating the importance of gaining information to design an objective on an informed basis. Third, it leads to Assessment, involving the preparation of a framework to evaluate information and measure progress. Then, it moves to Achievement, supporting the evaluation of work completed with respect to a certain objective. Fifth, it progresses to Admiration, reinforming passion and enthusiasm in the learning journey as an important step to boost confidence. Finally, the Framework concludes with Advancement, empowering students to adopt a stronger attitude to learn more and forming a virtuous cycle through the 6As Framework.

As a Global Youth Ambassador at Ariel Foundation International, she intends to advocate, educate, and innovate on new pathways to deliver quality education to as many communities, locally and regionally, through The Curious Explorer Project which she founded, and the aforementioned 6As Framework. She looks forward to learning from and partnering with the other esteemed Ambassadors of this amazing organization.
